"Cindy Rae's Backyard Birds"
My "little" hobby
My husband went through a life threatening illness and the treatment was quite long. I began to paint the small pieces during this time for the simple reason, I could leave whatever I was working on in moment's notice. Birdwatching is our together hobby and it delighted him to see the birds I was painting. He is well but I still sketch and paint the birds at the window almost daily.
If you would like a 5x5 panel of your favorite bird or a loved ones' favorite bird just email me and ask. $35.00 includes shipping.
Pretty ordinary baby boomer growing up in a herd of kids where every house on the block had a herd as well. We roamed more than kids do now. Messing around is a good thing. Time to dream.
And dream I did! With an active imagination taking me to all sorts of inner spaces, I would spend hours as a child reading/drawing/coloring/watching. As an adult, after raising children and a busy career in nursing, I let the dreamer go full steam ahead and cultivated my creative side. The opportunity to make art is a childhood dream come true. It was difficult, at first, to present myself as an artist to the world. But I have learned to fail and keep making art. I love the process. The paints, the brushes, the canvases.. just every bit. And every piece is a dynamic story. Living a different life for each person who sees. My art resides in homes and business around the globe but the point is still to just make art.
My love of nature - whether it is watching birds feeding on the wall outside the kitchen window, contemplating the locust tree standing guard, or gazing into the sky provides inspiration. Life is full of surprises and every art piece has surprised me along its way. Those surprises are the best and make the piece its own.
As a predominantly abstract painter inspired by nature and landscape, my goal is to capture the feeling, the energy and the bring it to the viewer, giving a renewed sense of hope and inspiration.
My message to the world is make something, write something, hug the universe. Be you.
Know Your Numbers!
3 Tips to Help You Hang Art
Hang single artwork pieces at eye level
It’s best to hang single artwork at eye level, and 60 inches from center to the floor is the number to remember.
If you’re hanging your art above furniture, it can be 4-6 inches above the piece.
If the art is going above a sofa or table, the piece should be approximately 2/3 width of the furniture.
Treat two pieces as one
When hanging two art pieces, treat them as one and still hang them 60 inches from the floor to the center of the grouping.
This rule also applies to groups of three and four. Make sure they are spaced only a few inches apart, so they look together and not disconnected.
TIP #3: Hang Gallery Walls with cohesive spacing
When grouping, use pieces with a similar theme and consistent frames. Hang large and medium pieces 2-3 inches apart, and smaller pieces 1.5-2.5 inches apart.
There you go!! By the way I love art in the bathroom!!
